He shows a very nice trick for accomplishing the same thing and more using <code>replace-regexp<\/code>. It&#8217;s a little more complicated than <code>rectange-number-lines<\/code> so you probably won&#8217;t want to use it except for those cases where <code>rectangle-number-lines<\/code> (along with its optional <em>FORMAT<\/em> argument) can&#8217;t give you the desired result.
