Bhaskar Chowdhury has a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=HyX7a7zLulM&amp;t=4s\">short video<\/a> (6 minutes, 54 seconds) that describes 4 vital Emacs shortcuts. Three of them are probably already in your repertoire:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"org-ul\">\n<li><code>switch-to-buffer<\/code> (<kbd>Ctrl<\/kbd>+<kbd>x<\/kbd> <kbd>b<\/kbd>)<\/li>\n<li><code>async-shell-command<\/code> (<kbd>Meta<\/kbd>+<kbd>&amp;<\/kbd>)<\/li>\n<li><code>shell-command<\/code> (<kbd>Meta<\/kbd>+<kbd>!<\/kbd>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Most of you probably use those all the time. The last is something I didn\u2019t know about. If you\u2019re an <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/abo-abo\/swiper\">Ivy<\/a> user, there\u2019s the <code>counsel-switch-buffer<\/code> command. Its like <code>switch-to-buffer<\/code> except that as you scroll down the list of buffers, the buffer at point is displayed in the current window so you can see its content. That can be handy, especially if you have many buffers open at a time.<\/p>\n<p>The <code>counsel-switch-buffer<\/code> command is not bound by default so if you kike it you will either have to find a binding for it or simply steal the <kbd>Ctrl<\/kbd>+<kbd>x<\/kbd> <kbd>b<\/kbd> binding for it. You probably don\u2019t want to use <kbd>Ctrl<\/kbd>+<kbd>b<\/kbd> as Chowdhury does since it\u2019s an important cursor movement chord.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Just a quickie today.
